The Road Ending

All in all I thought that the Road was an excellent book. It was by far my favorite book that we have read this semester. I am for sure going to go and see the movie when it comes out. It was much better than the Odyssey in my opinion. I also liked the video game project that we did. My group came up with some great ideas and made a great plot of a video game that related to the book. I was a little bit shocked when the father, who I guess remained nameless throughout the whole book, died, and at the same time I guess I kind of expected it to happen. I thought that the ending of the book made a good clincher to the book. I liked how it aloud the whole story just to end, or possibly have a sequel to it. Right after the man died I was thinking about what the boy would do. Part of me thought that he would be a goner, but then I thought about it and just didn’t believe that could happen. Then the man with the family came by to offer to take care of him. That put an end to my doubt. Although I thought an even better ending to the book would be the boy continuing down the road by himself right after he left the man. I think that ending would leave people wondering and create a good impact on the reader, but at the same time I’m sure that many readers were happy to see that the boy found a new family to live with. The Road was a great book and I hope that we will read more books like this one.

Stormbreaker Part 5

After Alex found that hidden staircase and was snooping around. The woman who had been asked to serve him by Mr. Sayle, the inventor of the storm breaker computer and the one who looked suspicious, had found Alex snooping around. By this time Alex had made so many mistakes that he himself thought that he had blown his cover. The next day he had been going for a walk around the place. He was following a path that was directed by signs. The last sign he had approached had mislead him. It had recently been changed because somebody knew that Alex had been coming. I didn’t exactly understand the setting, but I think that it lead him to a fence area which he could not climb or escape. Along with that were these machines called quad bikes. I didn’t exactly understand this part, but they seemed to be cornering Alex and had the ability to slice him in half. He escaped by ducking in a hole in the ground and then jacking one of the quad bikes and road it off. He was driving around when he came across a mine. He later realized that the mine was part of a mountain. The hidden staircase was the peak of it, and where he was at now was somewhere on a lower level.

Stormbreaker Part 4

After Mr. Blunt had told Alex about his uncle being a spy he proposed that Alex should help him with a mission in which his uncle died for. Alex said no, but Mr. Blunt blackmailed him. Alex’s legal guardian was the company that Mr. Blunt owned and Mr. Blunt had control of all of Alex’s uncle’s money plus more. Alex then had no choice but to accept his offer. He was sent to a training camp for ten days. It was really hard work, plus his group that he was working with wasn’t to kind to him. His training consisted of carrying fifty pound backpacks all over the place, and eleven hour survival mission trips, which were hiking courses and more. After his ten days were up he went to his mission. His mission was to find out something about a guy who was giving free new and improved computers called Stormbreakers to all the schools in England. Mr. Blunt’s company found something a little suspicious about this event and thought that he could send in a kid in on this mission because nobody would suspect him to be a spy. He arrived and got to test out the Stormbreaker and found it amazing and cooler than any other computer he has seen before. After that when he was randomly walking around he found a hidden staircase and noticed something a little suspicious about it and the noises he was hearing on the inside. I stopped reading there.

Stormbreaker Part 3

I have read a lot more in Stormbreaker, my quarter two reading book, since my last post. After Alex had noticed the gun in the mans jacket that had put him under suspicion. He could not focus at all the next day at school after all that he saw. So he decided to investigate. At his uncle’s funeral he had noticed a man named J.B. Stryker. When he look in the yellow pages for junkyards where his uncle’s car might be he noticed J.B. Stryker Auto Wreckers. He went there and found the car. It was a little smashed up and had bullet holes in it. The bullets made Alex suspicious because the officers never mentioned anything about gunfire. He then heard people coming. He noticed that he saw them at the funeral and decided to hide in the car. Then the car was lifted by a crate and was being smashed into a small ball with him inside it. He barely manage to escape out of the back window. The men found him soon after and shot him with a tranquilizer dart. He woke up and had no idea where he was. Alex’s uncle’s boss is named Mr. Blunt. He told Alex a lot of information. Ian Rider had worked for Mr. Blunt as a spy and was killed. I will continue the information on my next post.

Stormbreaker Continued

The book I am reading, Stormbreaker, just got even more interesting. I am still not that far into it but from what I’ve read this last week, big hints that I think will all connect and be reveled by the end of the book. I ended my last post with the part about the cops coming to his door and telling fourteen year old Alex Rider that his uncle, Ian Rider, had died in a car crash. They also said that he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. This made Alex suspicious. Ian Rider was never alive in the time this book takes place in, but Alex mentioned that uncle Ian was a big safety freak, especially about the importance of wearing a seatbelt. Ian had aloud a girl in her early twenties to rent a room in his house. When Alex told her the story she also found it a little suspicious, but not like Alex had. When he went to the funeral he had met his uncles boss. Ian Rider had worked for the bank. The man had told Alex what Ian had done for his career. The man had also told him that Ian Rider would be greatly missed by everyone. That man had arrived in a limo, and when he was getting back in the driver came around to open the door for him, and at this time the drivers jacket fell open and reveled a gun. The driver quickly fixed his jacket. Both the driver and Ian Rider’s boss had noticed that Alex had noticed. They quickly sped away. This is where I am at so far in my quarter 2 outside reading book.

Stormbreaker

The book I choose to read for our second quarter reading book assignment was a book called Stormbreaker. The book is the first of a series of six. It was written by an author named Anthony Horowitz. It is a book full of action and suspense. I haven’t read much of the book yet, but my brother did and that’s what he said about it. I talked to him and he said he enjoyed another book in this series called Eagle Strike. That’s why I decided to buy this book with the gift card I had for Wild Rumpus that was laying around for about six months. The whole gift card story is how I chose my first quarter reading book as well. I figure if I bought it I might as well read it. Especially since I am forced to read a book each quarter. The biggest reason I chose to read though was because I heard it was a good book full of action and suspense. From what I’ve read so far I know that the main characters name is Alex Rider. He apparently is a strong and athletic looking fourteen year old boy. He lives with his uncle. His parents died in a car crash when he was younger. Then at about three in the morning the cops came to his house to tell him that his uncle named Ian died in a car crash, and he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. You’ll find out more about the book next week.

The Road And My Quarter 2 Reading Book

I just began to read the boo “The Road” today. Before today, I knew absolutely nothing about this book. However, in the first twenty pages of it I noticed that it mentions this road that they are following, so now it gives me a general description of it. After reading the first twenty pages of it, I decided that I think this will be a good book overall. I like reading about books that involve doomsday and the end of the world. Those types of books seem to interest me a lot. This book does have its negative ends to it too. It doesn’t seem to have any emotion behind it. It just seemed robotic when I was reading it. I think that the characters should be more in and acting more appropriately to make the book better and more interesting. I also think that it’s kind of weird that we don’t even know the names of the two main characters. When the author refers to them as the man and the boy it makes it seem like they’re rather unimportant than the two main characters. Despite the negative parts to this book, I am glad and excited to be reading The Road.
For my second quarters quarter reading book I have decided to read the book called “Stormbreaker” I believe that it is an action book. I also believe that it is a part of a series. Its about 250 pages long.
