The New Team
Its hockey season again. Another year with a new team and a different skill level. Hopefully a better team than the one you had last year. I just got home from my second practice of our season. It’s actually kind of ridiculous. We have had only two practices with only half of our players there and no goalie yet. Not to mention that we don’t have our jerseys yet either. Although our first game won’t really matter all that much. We have about twenty four league games plus like twelve to fifth teen tournament games. Plus I’m sure that the other team will be pretty much as unprepared as my team is. From what I’ve seen so far it would seem that we’re going to have a good year. We have some good players and a good team over all, so I think it will be a good year. The games are for sure the best part about hockey. For me, practices have always been pretty fun. Our first two practices were awesome. We just scrimmaged half of the time both days. It was pretty sweet. Everybody agreed that both of our practices were awesome. I hope we do like the same thing like every practice. I’m really looking forward to this season.

The Odyssey's ending
The last few chapters of the Odyssey were actually pretty good. I found that it was a little more exciting and interesting than all of the earlier books. The thing I think I like most about it was that I understood it better than all of the earlier chapters. I’m not sure what it was about the end of it, but I just found that it was more enjoyable to read because it finally made sense to me. I like how that the beggar was Odysseus in disguise and that nobody knew except for Telemachus. The book also seemed to get more suspenseful when the nurse found out the beggar was really Odysseus by the scar he had, and then when he grabbed her by the neck and told her to keep her mouth shut. After that, my personal favorite part of the novel came up, which was when Odysseus won Penelopes contest and when he turned back into his true self. The slaughter I thought was pretty interesting. How just a few men were able to kill the suitors when they were out numbered, with a little help from Athena of course. I thought it was really a flashy way to show that the Great king Odysseus was home. I really wish the whole book was like the ending.

The Odyssey
The book that I am currently reading in my language arts class is the Odyssey. Personally, I think that it is a really weird book. I don’t like reading books with English used in a different form like how this book is written. I learned that last year when I read the book kidnapped. By the way, that was probably the worst book I ever read. The Odyssey reminded me a lot of that book. I think that there are way to many characters with crazy names that I can’t remember. There are defiantly way to many connections that these characters have. Like when you discuss characters from a book and the teacher says you can remember them from so and so, and this person is connected to this person in this way. You know, the basic way to learn who the characters are. We’ve been going the Odyssey in a similar way, except the problem is there are way to many characters, who’s names I can’t spell or remember, along with how their connected to other characters in a certain way. That is either a blood connection or an event, and then when it just can’t get any worse, the events jump out at you. All of their stories have way to many events and places where those events take place. It would be like trying to read and understand the Dark Night. Don’t get me wrong, I thought that movie was amazing, but it was really hard to follow and understand what is happening. For those of you who saw it can you imagine even trying to understand it by reading it? That’s what the Odyssey is like. This book is one that I just don’t understand.

My Brother's First Season Hockey
Today, in the late afternoon I went to my brothers hockey game. It was his first league game of the season and they unfortunately lost six to two. Overall I thought it was a sloppy game, like most of the first games of the season. For starters, it seemed that almost everybody on both teams, but mostly my little brothers team completely whiffed a ton of shots and passes. It was terrible. You can’t win if you’re going to constantly bobble the puck. It just doesn’t work that way. Also, nobody could catch a pass. It was ridiculous. That also doesn’t help at all. Like my old coach said and I’m sure he still says it. “every missed pass is a huge chance for a turnover” and if it’s in your zone it could easily be a goal against you. After seeing my brothers first game of the season I can tell that their going to have to make a lot of improvements to start winning games. I have no doubt that they can do it. All I’m saying is that they need a lot more work and a lot more practice, which I’m hoping they can get before their next game. Hockey is a sport that takes a lot of skill to be good at. You need to be able to make good quick decisions, shoot the puck and catch passes. It may take time, but I know that’s what this team needs to do and just get better in general in order to have a successful hockey season.
